For these two lovebirds, there was a particular reason why they decided to flock to Grouse Mountain last December. Soon-to-wed Serena and Shaun chose to make their first winter visit to Grouse Mountain more memorable by having their engagement shoot in a rolling landscape of powdery white bliss.
Despite the low temperature, the couple found warmth in each other’s eyes as they posed playfully beneath the snow-covered trees that towered around them.
The location and theme was perfect for the couple, who are avid fans of winter sports such as snowboarding, skiing and snow shoeing. As I often emphasize to my clients, it’s always important for engagement shoots to reflect who you are. Serena and Shaun nailed this mantra by even recreating moments from their first date with a cup of joe in each hand.
As the afternoon progressed, the lovebirds fluffed their feathers and changed into more formal outfits. Serena looked lovely in her pale lavender halter dress. Her heartwarming glow could instantly melt even the largest snowflake, while Shaun looked dapper in his gray suit punctuated with a striped lavender necktie. I love when couples mix things up with a change of clothing. It’s a great way to bring more personality into your session.
With their wedding set this summer of 2017, the couple will certainly have the best of both seasons. I always advise my couples to hold their engagement session in the opposite season of their wedding. That way, they can get beautiful photos in all sorts of weather and location – from winter engagements at Grouse Mountain to wedding portraits on the beach.
